Week 9 (10/4-10/7)

ENGLISH

This is an exciting week! On Wednesday, students will be participating in a field trip to the Apple Store, where they will assemble their own short stories into digital iBooks.  We will also be discussing the meaning of the term “irony.”  We will then be reading the short story “The Gift of the Magi,” which effectively uses irony.

The objectives for the week are as follows:

Monday

No school.

Tuesday

SWBAT determine and identify different types of irony.

Wednesday

SWBAT assemble iBooks, which incorporate a short narrative story and illustrations.

Thursday

SWBAT identify irony and theme in a short story.

Friday

SWBAT identify irony and theme in a short story.

SOCIAL STUDIES

We will be concluding our unit on Africa. Students will independently research and present on the Kongo Kingdom. We will then review key facts about Africa, using independent study guides and Kahoot, in order to prepare students for next week’s unit exam, which will be given on Monday.
