Week 13 (10/31-11/4)

ENGLISH

In English, we will continue our discussion of poetry. We will be examining the impact of descriptive language, and we will closely read and analyze the Robert Frost poem “The Road Less Traveled.”  Addiitionally, students will be participating in NWEA MAPS testing this week for English and Math.

The objectives for the week are as follows:

Monday

SWBAT analyze how descriptive language adds to the impact of a poem.

Tuesday

SWBAT participate in a Socratic Seminar to discuss the meaning of the poem “Fire and Ice”

Wednesday

SWBAT use descriptive language in a poem and describe its signficance.

Thursday

SWBAT use close reading to analyze the meaning of “The Road Less Traveled”

Friday

SWBAT identify and correctly utilize independent/dependent clauses, and compound/complex sentences.

SOCIAL STUDIES

We will be continuing our study of China. Students will learn about the impact of Buddhism and discuss trade via the Silk Road. Students will be MAPS testing on either Tuesday of Wednesday of this week, depending on their class.

The objectives for the week are as follows:

Monday

SWBAT identify and describe the differences between Confucianism, Daoism, and Legalism.

Tuesday

SWBAT describe key values of Buddhism  

Wednesday

MAPS testing. 

Thursday

SWBAT describe the importance of the Silk Road and analyze how trade impacted Medieval China.

Friday

SWBAT describe the importance of the Silk Road and analyze how trade impacted Medieval China.
