Week 17 (12/5-12/9)

In Social Studies this week, students will be taking a test on Japan and presenting their Japanese cultural projects. We will also be introducing our new unit on Medieval Europe. In English, we will be continuing our discussion of Culturally Relevant Service Learning, throuhg the CASA program.

ENGLISH

On Monday, we will be teaching a lesson on correct pronoun usage. For the rest of the week, we will continue in the CASA curriculum. Students will define and discuss the different elements of Culturally Relevant Service Learning, and they will examine case studies.

The objectives for the week are as follows:

Monday

SWBAT distinguish between different types of pronouns and correctly use pronouns within sentences

Tuesday

SWBAT define the terms: “culturally relevant” “service” and “learning” and identify examples of service and learning in different situations

Wednesday

SWBAT define the key terms in the CRSL process and identify the order of the process

Thursday

SWBAT apply knowledge of the culturally relevant service-learning (CRSL) cycle to a case-study

Friday

SWBAT understand the concept of assets,
identify assets in their community, and comprehend the process of community mapping

SOCIAL STUDIES

Students will be working on and presenting their individual activities on Japanese culture. Students will complete a summative unit test on Medieval Japan. We will also be introducing our next unit: Medieval Europe.
