Week 18 (12/12 – 12/16)

This is the last week of the semester! In Social Studies, we will begin our study of Medieval Europe, which we will continue after the break. Students will be comparing and contrasting feudalism in Medieval Europe and Japan. In English, students will be working in small groups to create iMovie trailers, to review key grammar terms.

ENGLISH

Students will be working in small groups to produce iMovie trailers. These trailers will focus on key grammar concepts: compound and complex sentences, parts of speech, and pronoun rules. On Friday, students will be premiering their trailers for the class.

The objectives for the week are as follows:

Monday

SWBAT differentiate between compound and complex sentences.

Tuesday

SWBAT work collaboratively to produce an iMovie trailer on an assigned grammar topic.

Wednesday

SWBAT work collaboratively to produce an iMovie trailer on an assigned grammar topic.

Thursday

SWBAT work collaboratively to produce an iMovie trailer on an assigned grammar topic.

Friday

SWBAT demonstrate understanding of parts of speech and compound sentences through iMovie trailers.

SOCIAL STUDIES

We will be starting our study of Medieval Europe. Students will work to compare and contrast feudal Europe and Japan. We will also be discussing the impact of Charlemagne, and students will study some key features of Medieval art.

The objectives for the week are as follows:

SWBAT compare and contrast feudal Japan and feudal Europe.

Tuesday

SWBAT compare and contrast feudal Japan and feudal Europe.

Wednesday

SWBAT compare and contrast feudal Japan and feudal Europe.

SWBAT describe the impact of Charlemagne in Medieval Europe.

SWBAT identify and replicate key features of medieval European art.
